ALLAH

ALLAH

Arabic  Ilah”a god/s” anything that is worshipped

Al=llah”The Only Ilah”(the only GOD that’s WORTHY to be WORSHIPPED)
Click on NewTab

a contraction of the Arabic al-Ilāh, “the God.”  The One and Only God, There is none other like Him  nothing like onto Him

Allah

The name of God in Arabic. It is a compound word from the article, 'al, and ilah, divinity, and signifies "the god" par excellence. This form of the divine name is in itself a sure proof that ilah was at one time an appellative, common to ALL the local and tribal gods.

GRADUALLY, with the addition of the article, it was restricted to one of them who took precedence of the others; finally, with the triumph of monotheism, He was recognized as the only true God.

In one form or another this Hebrew root occurs in all Semitic languages as a designation of the Divinity; but whether it was originally a proper name, pointing to a primitive monotheism, with subsequent deviation into polytheism and further rehabilitation, or was from the beginning an appellative which became a proper name only when the Semites had reached monotheism is a much debated question.

It is certain, however, that before the time of Mohammed, owing to their contact with Jews and Christians, the Arabs were generally monotheists.

The notion of Allah in Arabic theology is substantially the same as that of God among the Jews, and also among the Christians, with the exception of the Trinity, which is positively excluded in the Koran, cxii: "Say God, is one God, the eternal God, he begetteth not, neither is he begotten and there is not any one like unto him." His attributes denied by the heterodox Motazilites, are ninety-nine in number. Each one of them is represented by a bead in the Moslem chaplet, while on the one hundredth and larger bead, the name of Allah itself is pronounced. It is preposterous to assert with Curtiss (Ursemitische Religion, 119) that the nomadic tribes of Arabia, consider seriously the Oum-el-Gheith, "mother of the rain", as the bride of Allah and even if the expression were used such symbolical language would not impair, in the least, the purity of monotheism held by those tribes. (Cf. Revue Biblique, Oct., 1906, 580 sqq.) Let it be noted that although Allah is an Arabic term, it is used by all Moslems, whatever be their language, as the name of God.

Three themes preponderate: (1) Allah is the Creator, Judge, and Rewarder; (2) he is unique (wāḥid) and inherently one (aḥad); and (3) he is omnipotent and all-merciful.

Basmalah
also called  Tasmiyah,
in Islām, the formula-prayer: biʾsm Allāh ar-raḥmān ar-raḥīm, “in the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate.” This invocation, which was first introduced by the Qurʾān, appears at the beginning of every Qurʾānic sūrah (chapter) except the ninth (which presents a unique textual problem) and is frequently recited by Muslims to elicit God's blessings on their important actions.

The basmalah also introduces all formal documents and transactions and must always preface actions that are legally required or recommended. An abbreviated version precedes certain daily rituals, such as meals. Magicians often use the basmalah in amulets, claiming that the prayer was inscribed in Adam's side, Gabriel's wing, Solomon's seal, and Jesus Christ's tongue.

We are told in the Quran that the Islamic deity prays for his followers, especially Muhammad:

They are those on whom are the prayers (salawatun) from their Lord and mercy (rahmatun), and it is they who are the guided-ones. S. 2:157
He it is who prays (yusallee) for you and His angels too, to bring you forth out of the darkness into the light, for He is merciful to the believers. S. 33:43 Palmer
Verily, God and His angels pray (yusalloona) for the prophet. O ye who believe! pray for him (salloo) and salute him with a salutation! S. 33:56 Palmer

Hadith 216:
The Israelites said to Musa: Does your Lord pray? Musa said: Fear Allah, O Sons of Israel!
Allah said: O Musa! What did your people say? Musa said: O my Lord, You already know? They said: Does your Lord pray?
Allah said: Tell them My prayer for My servants is that My Mercy should precede My Anger. If it were not so, I would have destroyed them. [Ibn ‘Asakir] (Al-Ahadith Al-Qudsiyyah - Divine Narratives translated by Dr. Abdul Khaliq Kazi & Dr. Alan B. Day, Section 2: Al-Ithafat Al-Saniyya Bi‘l-Ahadith Al-Qudsiyyah by Shaikh Zain al-Din Abdul Ra‘uf b. Taj al-‘Arifin b. ‘Ali b. Zayn al-‘Abidin al-Munawi [Dar Al Kitab Arabi - USA, 1995], pp. 305-306; underline emphasis ours)
The following is supposed to be a prayer of Allah taken from Ibn Hisham’s Al-Sirah Al-Halabiyya:
قلت يا جبريل أيصلى ربك قال نعم قلت وما يقول قال يقول سبوح قدوس رب الملائكة والروح سبقت رحمتى غضبى

I [Muhammad] said, “O Gabriel, does your Lord pray?” He said, “Yes.” I said, “What does he say?” “This is what he says. He says: ‘Glory, holy, Lord of the angels and the Spirit. My mercy overcomes my wrath.’” (Bold, underline and comments within brackets ours)

al-Qurʾān al-karīm or al-Qurʾān al-majīd, which can best be translated as “the Noble Qurʾān” or “the Glorious Qurʾān.”

al-qurʾān, meaning “the recitation.” Gathered  by Caliphs (Spiritual Leaders)

Other Names are

al-furqān (“discernment”),umm al-kitāb (the “mother book,” or “archetypal book”), al-hudā (“the guide”), dhīkrallāh (“the remembrance of God”), al-ḥikmah (“wisdom”), and kalāmallāh (“the word of God”). Another term found in the Qurʾān is al-kitāb (“the book”)

Qurʾān is sacred for Muslims. In keeping with the verse, “None toucheth [the Qurʾān] save the purified” (sura 56, verse 79), most Muslims perform ritual ablutions before touching the Qurʾān, which is always found in a place of honour in the home or the mosque.

(literally, a “well-trodden path”,good example) /way of life of Muhammad

In fact, even to this day there isn’t one version of the Quran, but at least two that are still used from over a dozen versions. These versions are called qiraat, or readings, by Muslims, which they expediently deem to be equally authoritative:
When reading the Qur'an, we frequently refer to Warsh or Hafs and say, "This is Hafs" or "This is Warsh". What we mean by that is that this is the riwaya or Warsh or the riwaya of Hafs. It is the riwaya of a particular qira'a. The qira'at or the readings, or methods of recitation, are named after the leader of a school of Qur'an reciters. Each qira'a derives its authority from a prominent leader of recitation in the second or third century hijri who in turn trace their riwaya or transmission back through the Companions of the Prophet. For instance, in the back of a Warsh Qur'an, you are likely to find "the riwaya of Imam Warsh from Nafi' al-Madini from Abu Ja'far Yazid ibn al-Qa'qa' from 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas from Ubayy ibn Ka'b from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, from Jibril, peace be upon him, from the Creator." Or in Hafs you will see "the riwaya of Hafs ibn Sulayman ibn al-Mughira al-Asadi al-Kufi of the qira'a of 'Asim ibn Abi'n-Nujud al-Kufi from Abu 'Abdu'r-Rahman 'Abdullah ibn Habib as-Sulami from 'Uthman ibn 'Affan and 'Ali ibn Abi Talib and Zayd ibn Thabit and Ubayy ibn Ka'b from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." These all go back to the Prophet.

as the biographical ground of law and Sunnah as the system of obligation derived from it.

. A hadits generally comprises an isnad, a matn and a rawi. The term we use here is “khabr” which literally means “news”, because every hadits is generally a form of relayed news with a chain of transmitters. The isnad is the people in the chain of narrators concerned with passing on the khabr. The actual content of the khabr is purely what was mentioned by the Prophet (s.a.w.) and this is called the matn. The rawi is the person who collected and reported the hadits.

Traditions might be sound (ṣaḥīḥ), good (ḥasan), or weak (ḍāʿīf).

Lots of crucial aspects in Islam you can’t find in the Quran:

circumcision
five prayers daily is not in the Quran. The Quran says three times (24.58, 2.238, 24.58).
praying facing Mecca is not in the Quran
the idea of “five pillars of Islam” is not from the Quran
Shahadah (you can find it only in two pieces in two places in the Quran: Surah 37.35 and Surah 48.49). So Allah didn’t care so much to reveal it explicitly in the Quran even though it’s the most important creed in Islam. Anyway you don’t find the word “shahadah in the Quran”.
The word “zakat” and the way to pay it is not in the Quran.

Who killed the prophet Mohammad

THE SIGN OF PR0PHETHOOD

According to the Quran, Muhammad performed no miracles to confirm his prophethood (Q. 6:37; 17:59; 28:48; 29:50-51). This embarrassing fact has led Muslim theologians to search desperately for any sign that would attest to Muhammad’s prophetic claims.

One such evidence is the so-called “Seal of Prophethood” alluded to in the Quran:

“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Apostle of God, and the seal of the Prophets: and God has full knowledge of all things.” S. 33:40

The question arises as to what was the Seal of the Prophets. Was it a spiritual or a physical sign? Does it find Biblical precedence and support for it? To our amazement the seal was a hairy mole between Muhammad’s shoulders!

“Narrated As-Saib bin Yazid … I stood behind him (i.e., Muhammad) and saw the seal of Prophethood between his shoulders, and it was like the ‘Zir al-Hijla’ (meaning the button of a small tent, but some say ‘egg of a partridge.’).” Vol. 1, No. 189 – see also Vol. 4, No. 741

Chapter 28: THE FACT PERTAINING TO THE SEAL OF HIS PROPHETHOOD, ITS CHARACTERISTIC FEATURE AND ITS LOCATION ON HIS BODY

“Jabir b. Samura reported: I saw the seal on his back as it were a pigeon’s egg.” (Sahih Muslim, Book 030, Number 5790)

“Abdullah b. Sarjis reported: I saw Allah’s apostle and ate with him bread and meat, or he said Tharid (bread soaked in soup). I said to him: Did Allah’s apostle seek forgiveness for you? He said: Yes, and for you, and he then recited this verse: ‘Ask forgiveness for thy sin and for the believing men and believing women’ (xlvii 19). I then went after him and saw the Seal of Prophethood between his shoulders on the left side of his shoulders having spots on it like hairy moles.” (Sahih Muslim, Book 030, Number 5793)

The Dictionary of Islam by T.P. Hughes states:

SEAL OF PROPHECY. Khatimu 'n-Nubuwah. A mole of an unusual size on the Prophets back, which is said to have been the divine seal which, according to the predictions of the Scriptures, marked Muhammad as the "Seal of the Prophets," Khatimu'n Nabiyin.

According to a tradition, recorded in the Mishkatu 'l-Masabih, book iii, ch. 7, it was the size of the knob of a bridal canopy. Others say it was the size of a pigeon's egg, or even the size of a closed fist.

Shaikh 'Abdu 'l-Haqq says "it was a piece of flesh, very brilliant in appearance, and according to some traditions it had secretly inscribed within it, 'God is one and has no Associate.

Abu Ramsa', whose family were skilled in surgery, offered to remove it, but Muhammad refused, saying, "The Physician thereof is He who placed it where it is."

According to another tradition, Muhammad said to Abu Ramsa', "Come hither and touch my back"; which he did, drawing his fingers over the prophetical seal and, behold! there was a collection of hairs upon the spot. (See Muir, new ed. P. 542.)

'Abdu 'l-Haqq also says it disappeared from the Prophet's back shortly before his death.

It is not clear how far Muhammad encouraged the belief in this supernatural sign of his prophetic mission, but from his reply to Abu Ramsa', it would not appear that he really attributed any special power to its existence. (P. 567)

This can be interpreted in one of two ways: 1) That Muhammad understood this mole to be the physical seal of authority i.e., that he was an Apostle of Allah or, 2) the mole was something placed on his body as nothing more than a mark of deformity, i.e. birth mark.

Regardless as to how Muhammad understood the significance of this mark, the fact remains that the Muslims took it as proof that Muhammad was Allah’s Prophet. However, the idea that a mole proves prophethood is fallacious and finds no Biblical substantiation, contrary to what Muslims might believe.

The second sign of prophethood according to Muslims was the manner in which Muhammad received revelations. According to the Traditions, Muhammad

acted as a drunkard (Ibn Hisham, Al-Sirah al-Nabawiya, chapter on how the revelation came to him).

would tremble, foam at the mouth and snore or moan like a camel or a newborn calf.
“Narrated Safwan bin Ya'la bin Umaiya from his father who said: ‘A man came to the Prophet while he was at Ji'rana. The man was wearing a cloak which had traces of Khaluq or Sufra (a kind of perfume). The man asked (the Prophet), “What do you order me to perform in my ‘Umra?” So, Allah inspired the Prophet divinely and he was screened by a place of cloth. I wished to see the Prophet being divinely inspired. 'Umar said to me, “Come! Will you be pleased to look at the Prophet while Allah is inspiring him?” I replied in the affirmative. ‘Umar lifted one corner of the cloth and I looked at the Prophet who was snoring. (The sub-narrator thought that he said: The snoring was like that of a camel). When that state was over, the Prophet asked, “Where is the questioner who asked about ‘Umra? Put off your cloak and wash away the traces of Khaluq from your body and clean the Sufra (yellow color) and perform in your Umra what you perform in your Hajj (i.e. the Tawaf round the Ka'ba and the Sa'i between Safa and Marwa).”’” Vol. 3, Bk. 27, Number 17

In the sahih collection of Muslim, there is an account by Hammam b. Yahya, from ‘Ata’, from Ya‘la b. Umayya, who is quoted as saying,

“‘Umar said to me, ‘Would you like to look at the Messenger of God while revelation is coming to him?’ He raised the edge of his robe from his face while he was receiving revelation at al-Ji‘rana, and he was all flushed. And he would moan like a newborn calf.” (Ibn Kathir, The Life of the Prophet Muhammad (Al-Sira al-Nabawiyya), translated by Professor Trevor Le Gassick, Reviewed by Dr. Ahmed Fareed [Garnet Publishing Limited, UK, First Paperback Edition: 2000], Volume I, p. 307; italic emphasis ours)

would move his lips rapidly in trying to recite and memorize the “revelation.”
“Narrated Sa’id bin Jubair: Ibn 'Abbas in the explanation of the Statement of Allah, ‘Move not your tongue concerning (the Quran) to make haste therewith.’ (75.16) Sa’id: ‘Allah's Apostle used to bear the revelation with great trouble and used to move his lips (quickly) with the Inspiration.’ Ibn 'Abbas moved his lips saying, ‘I am moving my lips in front of you as Allah's Apostle used to move his.’ Sa’id moved his lips saying: ‘I am moving my lips, as I saw Ibn 'Abbas moving his.’ Ibn 'Abbas added, ‘So Allah revealed, “Move not your tongue concerning (the Qur'an) to make haste therewith. It is for us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad) the ability to recite it (the Qur'an)” (75.16-17), which means that Allah will make him (the Prophet) remember the portion of the Qur'an which was revealed at that time by heart and recite it. The Statement of Allah: “And when We have recited it to you (O Muhammad through Gabriel) then you follow its (Qur'an) recital” (75.18) means “listen to it and be silent.” “Then it is for Us (Allah) to make It clear to you” (75.19) means “Then it is (for Allah) to make you recite it (and its meaning will be clear by itself through your tongue).” Afterwards, Allah's Apostle used to listen to Gabriel whenever he came and after his departure he used to recite it as Gabriel had recited it.’” Vol. 1, Bk. 1, No. 4

“Imam Ahmad stated that ‘Abd al-Razzaq related to him, quoting Yunus b. Salim, who said that Yunus b. Yazid dictated to him, from Ibn Shihab, from ‘Urwa b. ‘Abd al-Rahman b. ‘Abd al-Qart who said, ‘I heard ‘Umar b. al-Khattab say, “When revelation came down to the Messenger of God, it would be heard like the buzzing of a bee near his face.”’” (Ibn Kathir, The Life of the Prophet Muhammad, Volume I, p. 306)

perspiration the size of pearls would fall down from his forehead, even if it were cold out.
would hear the ringing of bells that caused intense pain.
“Narrated 'Aisha (the mother of the faithful believers): Al-Harith bin Hisham asked Allah's Apostle, ‘O Allah's Apostle! How is the Divine Inspiration revealed to you?’ Allah's Apostle replied, ‘Sometimes it is (revealed) like the ringing of a bell, this form of Inspiration is the hardest of all and then this state passes off after I have grasped what is inspired. Sometimes the Angel comes in the form of a man and talks to me and I grasp whatever he says.’ 'Aisha added: Verily I saw the Prophet being inspired Divinely on a very cold day and noticed the sweat dropping from his forehead (as the Inspiration was over).” Vol. 1, Bk. 1, No. 2

“… So, there overtook him the same state which used to overtake him, (when he used to have, on being inspired divinely). He was sweating so much so that the drops of the sweat were dropping like pearls though it was a (cold) wintry day. When that state of Allah's Apostle was over, he was smiling and the first word he said, 'Aisha! Thank Allah, for Allah has declared your innocence.' My mother told me to go to Allah's Apostle . I replied, 'By Allah I will not go to him and will not thank but Allah.' So Allah revealed: "Verily! They who spread the slander are a gang among you . . ." (24.11). suffered headaches and would faint.
Abu Nu‘aym related, from a tradition of Qutayba that ‘Ali b. Ghurab related to him, from al-Ahwas b. Hakim, from Abu ‘Awana, from Sa‘id b. al-Musayyib, from Abu Hurayra, who said, “When revelation came down to the Messenger of God, he would get a headache and would cover his head with the henna plant.” (Ibn Kathir, The Life of the Prophet Muhammad, Vol. I, p. 308; italic emphasis ours)

Abu Hurayrah narrated: “When the revelation came from Allah to the Prophet it was as if he had fainted.” (Abu Nu'aym). (As-Suyuti, Tahdhib al-khasa'is al-nabawiyyah al-kubra (“The Awesome Characteristics of the Prophet”) [Iz Publication, Istanbul 2003], p. 300)

would turn red and breathe heavily
“Narrated Safwan bin Ya'la bin Umaiya: Ya'la used to say, ‘I wish I could see Allah's apostle at the time he is being inspired Divinely.’ When the prophet was at Al-Ja'rana and was shaded by a garment hanging over him and some of his companions were with him, a man perfumed with scent came and said, ‘O Allah's apostle! What is your opinion regarding a man who assumes Ihram and puts on a cloak after perfuming his body with scent?’ The prophet waited for a while, and then the Divine Inspiration descended upon him. ‘Umar pointed out to Ya'la, telling him to come. Ya'la came and pushed his head (underneath the screen which was covering the prophet) and behold! The prophet's face was red and he kept on breathing heavily for a while and then he was relieved. Thereupon he said, ‘Where is the questioner who asked me about ‘Umra a while ago?’ The man was sought and then was brought before the prophet who said (to him), ‘As regards the scent which you perfumed your body with, you must wash it off thrice, and as for your cloak, you must take it off; and then perform in your 'Umra all those things which you perform in Hajj.’” Volume 6, Bk. 61, No. 508

We find that contrary to Muslim sentiment, these two signs fail to authenticate the prophethood of Muhammad for very good reasons. First, no Biblical prophet ever experienced these conditions during revelation. In fact, we find spiritists, mediums, diviners and those in the occult experiencing these conditions. One such person was the pagan Socrates who claimed that his philosophy was inspired by his Daimon (demon), who was also the cause of Socrates’ seizures. It was in this condition that Socrates received the ideas for the philosophical treatise he would eventually produce, or so he claimed.

Muhammad himself believed that at first he was being possessed by a jinn (demon-spirit):

“Narrated 'Aisha: The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah's apostle was in the form of good righteous (true) dreams in his sleep. He never had a dream but that it came true like bright day light. He used to go in seclusion (the cave of) Hira where he used to worship (Allah Alone) continuously for many (days) nights. He used to take with him the journey food for that (stay) and then come back to (his wife) Khadija to take his food likewise again for another period to stay, till suddenly the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel came to him in it and asked him to read. The Prophet replied, ‘I do not know how to read.’ (The prophet added), ‘The angel caught me (forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it anymore. He then released me and again asked me to read, and I replied, “I do not know how to read,” whereupon he caught me again and pressed me a second time till I could not bear it anymore. He then released me and asked me again to read, but again I replied, “I do not know how to read (or, what shall I read?).” Thereupon he caught me for the third time and pressed me and then released me and said, “Read: In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists). Has created man from a clot. Read and Your Lord is Most Generous,” up to, “that which he knew not.” (96.1-5)’

“Then Allah's apostle returned with the Inspiration, his neck muscles twitching WITH TERROR till he entered upon Khadija and said, ‘Cover me! Cover me!’ They covered him till his fear was over and then he said, ‘O Khadija, what is wrong with me?’ Then he told her everything that had happened and said, ‘I fear that something may happen to me.’ … But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while and the prophet became so sad as we have heard that he intended SEVERAL TIMES TO THROW HIMSELF FROM THE TOPS OF HIGH MOUNTAINS and every time he went up the top of a mountain in order to throw himself down, Gabriel would appear before him and say, ‘O Muhammad! You are indeed Allah's Apostle in truth,’ whereupon his heart would become quiet and he would calm down and would return home. And whenever the period of the coming of the inspiration used to become long, he would do as before, but when he used to reach the top of a mountain, Gabriel would appear before him and say to him what he had said before. (Ibn 'Abbas said regarding the meaning of: ‘He it is that Cleaves the daybreak (from the darkness)’ (6.96) that Al-Asbah means the light of the sun during the day and the light of the moon at night).” Vol. 9, Bk. 87, no. 111

The very foster-mother of Muhammad, Halima, believed he was possessed:

‘Some months after our return he and his brother were with our lambs behind the tents when his brother came running and said to us, "Two men clothed in white have seized that Qurayshi brother of mine and thrown him down and opened up his belly, and are stirring it up." We ran towards him and found him standing up with a livid face. We took hold of him and I asked him what was the matter. He said, "Two men in white raiment came I and threw me down and opened up my belly and searched therein for I know not what."1 So we took him back to our tent. His father said to me, "I am afraid that this child has had a stroke, so take him back to his family before the result appears." So we picked him up and took him to his mother who asked why we had brought him when I had been anxious for his welfare and desirous of keeping him with me. I said to her, "God has let my son live so far and I have done my duty. I am afraid that ill will befall him, so I have brought him back to you as you wished." She asked me what happened and gave me no peace until I told her. When she asked if I feared a demon possessed him, I replied that I did. She answered that no demon had any power over her son who had a great future before him, and then she told how when she was pregnant with him a light went out from her which illumined the castles of Busra in Syria, and that she had borne him with the least difficulty imaginable. When she bore him he put his hands on the ground lifting his head towards the heavens. "Leave him then and go in peace," she said.’ (The Life of Muhammad: A Translation of Ibn Ishaq’s Sirat Rasul Allah, with introduction and notes by Alfred Guillaume [Oxford University Press, Karachi, Tenth impression 1995], pp. 71-72; bold and italic emphasis ours)

And:

The following story connected with Muhammad's stay with Halimah is related by Abu 'l-Fida' (p. 64). When some time passed, Muhammad and his foster-brother went out to a distance from the house, when Halimah's son came to his mother and said. "Two men clothed in white raiments have taken hold of the Quraish boy, and have thrown him down and have ripped open his belly." So Halimah and her husband went to the place where the child was, but found him standing on his feet. And they said, "What has happened to thee child?" And he answered and said, "Two men came to me, and threw me down and ripped up my belly." Then Halimah's husband said to her, "I greatly fear that this boy has got the epilepsy." So they took him to his mother Aminah. And Halimah said to Aminah, "I am afraid he is possessed of a devil." But Aminah said, "What in the world can Satan have to do with my son that he should be his enemy?" (Hughes, Dictionary of Islam, p. 368; bold and italic emphasis ours)

Once more, we must reiterate the fact that none of the biblical prophets ever thought of jumping off a cliff after receiving inspiration nor did Gabriel strike dread and terror into the hearts of the servants of God, but often comforted them, unlike this “Gabriel” who would cause Muhammad to tremble, foam and sweat profusely.

Abū al-Qāsim Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib ibn Hāshim
born 570, Mecca, Arabia [now in Saudi Arabia]

died June 8, 632, Medina

His Biography is difficult to tell

Traditionally, 99 names for him are commonly used in litanies and prayers. Some are

Aḥmad (“the Most Glorified”), which is considered an inner and celestial name for Muhammad. Over the centuries Muslim authorities have believed that, when Christ spoke of the coming reign of the Paraclete, he was referring to Aḥmad. Also of great importance are the names that identify Muhammad as the Prophet, including Nabī (“Prophet”) and Rasūl Allāh (“the Messenger of God”). Other names of the Prophet are Ṭaha (“the Pure Purifier and Guide”), Yāsīn (“the Perfect Man”), Muṣṭafā (“the One Chosen”), ʿAbd Allāh (“the Perfect Servant of God”), Ḥabīb Allāh (“the Beloved of God”), Dhikr Allāh (“the Remembrance of God”), Amīn (“the Trusted One”), Sirāj (“the Torch Lighting the True Path”), Munīr (“the Illuminator of the Universe”), Hudā (“the Guide to the Truth”), Ghiyāth (“the Helper”), and Niʿmat Allāh (“the Gift of God”).

Message From Allah

Such was the Sunna of God for those who have passed on before. You will find that there is no substitute for the Sunna of God. 33:62 (also 35:43, 48:23)

Message From The Prophet

bn Saeed Al-Khudry reported that the messenger of God had said,
"Do not write anything from me EXCEPT QURAN. Anyone who wrote anything other than the Quran shall erase it."

We have brought down to you the 'kitab' (Book), truthfully, so that you may judge among the people. 4:105

Satanic Verse(From Many Gods To One) How Jesus and Muhammad confronted Satan

Have you thought upon al-Lat and al-Uzza and Manat, the third, the other? [Sura 53:19-20]

Satan cast on his tongue, because of his inner debates and what he desired to bring upon his people, the words:

These are the high-flying cranes, verily their intercession is accepted with approval. (Tabari, ibid.)

This last verse is not found in the Quran today (Arberry’s translation, Sura 53, note 7), but it was replaced with a polemical verse:

Are you [polytheists] to have the male and He [Allah] the female? [53:21]
The background that why this verse was recited was because after a long debate one day during a congregation of Meccans the Prophet was unable to convince them to stop worshiping their current Gods totalling 365 in number whose idols were inside the Kabbah (inside the kabbah there were other idols too like chief deities of various Arabian tribes ). In the end a middle path was chosen and it was decided that all the other Gods were false except the Supreme God i.e. Al-Lah and his family. It is said that this compromise was sealed by the revelation from God through the arch angle Gibreel which is now known as Satanic Verses

Later Muhammad realized his mistake as it compromises with the monotheistic principles of Islam and thus rectified this Surah with another one i.e. the current one which says it is not permitted to worship these goddesses.

Then it was back to square one and Muhammad was continued to be persecuted in Mecca now even with more vigor. Hence he fled with his companions the first few muslims to a place called Yathrib (Islamic Hijri). The chief of Yathrib (Medina) was very accommodating because he owed Muhammad as Muhammad had helped him during an old dispute (Muhammad was a Merchant before he started preaching about Islam and was known to be very honest and commanded respect among many. He was well known due to his travels).

Here in Yathrib Muhammad found supporters and Islam survived. Later after a few battles The Prophet finally defeated the Meccans and entered Kabbah. He performed Hajj i.e. “Tawaf” and kissed the Black Stone. He then ordered all the idols to be destroyed except the black stone. Since then all muslims perform hajj the same way Muhammad did.

Actually the hajj pilgrimage in ancient arabia was done annually long before Islam came only difference is that earlier it was done in the name of many Gods and now only one God i.e. Allah.

In Pre-Islamic Arabia i.e. the period of Jahilia, Arabs used to worship many gods. One can find the list online: pre-islamic gods of arabia.

Ibn Jarir al-Tabari (died 923 A.D.) was a Shafi'ite Sunni who wrote a 38-volume Islamic History of the world until 915 A.D. He has been titled "the sheikh of commentators". He writes in volume 6 p.108-110, "When the messenger of God saw how his tribe turned their backs on him and was grieved to see them shunning the message he had brought to them from God, he longed in his soul that something would come to him from God which would reconcile him with his tribe.... And when he came to the words: 'Have you thought upon al-Lat and al-Uzza and Manat, the third, the other?' Satan cast on his tongue, because of his inner debates and what he desired to bring to his people, the words: 'These are the high flying cranes; verily their intercession is accepted with approval [alternately: to be desired or hoped for].' When the Quraysh heard this, they rejoiced and were happy and delighted at the way in which he spoke of their gods, and they listened to him, while, You have recited to the people that which I did not bring to you from God, ...'"

ANGELS   DJINNS   MAN

The angels are made of light, whereas the Jinn are made from fire, and mankind is from earthen clay.

A N G E L SAl-Malaa’ikah

Al-Malaa’ikah: The Angels

No one  knows when Allah made them but they were created before man

The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His apostles. 2:285.

Characteristics

They do not disobey Allah's commands that they receive; they do precisely what they are commanded"(Quran 66:6).

Everything in the heavens and every creature on the earth prostrates to Allah, as do the angels. They are not puffed up with pride. They fear their Lord above them and do everything they are ordered to do. (Quran 16:49-50).

The angels are very large.
They have wings, sometimes in pairs of two, three or four. (Quran 35:1)
They are extremely beautiful.

Allah said, describing Jibreel, upon whom be peace (interpretation of the meaning):

"He [the Prophet] has been taught by one Mighty in Power, Dhoo Mirrah (free from any defect in body and mind), then he rose and became stable." [53:5-6]

With the exception of the Angel of Death.
They are neither male nor female.
They can take on the form of humans.
The angels do not eat. We know this from their visit to Prophet Ibrahim as mentioned in the Quran.

Others are responsible for protecting the slave throughout his life, when he stays home and when he travels, when he is asleep and when he is awake. These are the "angels in succession" concerning whom Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"It is the same (to Him) whether any of you conceals his speech or declares it openly, whether he be hid by night or goes forth freely by day.
For each (person), there are angels in succession, before and behind him. They guard him by the Command of Allah. Verily! Allah will not change the good condition of a people so long as they do not change their state of goodness themselves (by committing sin and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allah). But when Allah wills a people’s punishment, there can be no turning back of it, and they will find besides Him no protector." [13:10-11]

“There are over you watchers, noble writers, who know whatever you do.” (82:10-12)
“Over every soul there is a watcher.” (86:4).

This is indicated by the conversation between Ibrahim, the "friend" of Allah, and the angels who visited him. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, and placed it before them. He said, ‘Will you not eat?’ (When they did not eat), he conceived a fear of them. They said: ‘Fear not,’ and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge." [51:26-28]

"They celebrate His praises night and day, nor do they ever slacken." [21:20]

". . . For in the presence of your Lord are those who celebrate His praises by night and by day. And they never become tired (nor feel themselves above it)." [41:38]

Greets Inhabitants in Heaven

Gardens of perpetual bliss: they shall enter there, as well as the righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their offspring: and angels shall enter unto them from every gate (with the salutation): “Peace unto you for that ye persevered in patience! Now how excellent is the final home!” 13:23-24.

"And those who kept their duty to their Lord will be led to Paradise in groups, till, when they reach it, its gates will be opened and its keepers will say: Salamun ‘alaikum (peace be upon you!). You have done well, so enter here, to abide therein." [39:73]

The Throne of Allah

And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 69:17.

Some angels carry the Throne of Allah, as He describes in the Quran (interpretation of the meaning):
"Those (angels) who bear the Throne (of Allah) and those around it glorify the praises of their Lord, and believe in Him, and ask forgiveness for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah) (saying): ‘Our Lord! You comprehend all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repent and follow Your way, and save them from the torment of the blazing Fire!’" [40:7]

Guardians of The Hell-fire

Over it are Nineteen. And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,
And that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, “What symbol doth Allah intend by this ?” Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth:
None can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 74:30-31

Some Named

Jibreel (Gabriel): This is the highest of all the angels. One of Jibreel’s primary responsibilities was transferring the Words of Allah to the Prophets of Allah. Jibreel is also known as the Holy Spirit in Islam, as he carried the inspiration to Prophet Mohammed and several other Prophets of Allah (may Allah be pleased with them all).

Jibra'il (Jabriel, Jabril, Jibra'il, Jabriyel, Abru-El, Abruel), Gabriel, is the spirit of truth, who dictated the Quran to Mohammed . The angel who communicates with the Prophets. In appearance he has twelve wings and on observing his actual appearance the Prophet Mohamed fainted at his sight,
Mikail (or Mikaaiyl or Michael). Archangel of sustenance and the rewarder of good deed performed in this life. He stands above the seventh heaven

"Say: Whoever is an enemy to Jibreel - for he brings down the (revelation) to your heart by Allah’s will, a confirmation of what went before, and guidance and glad tidings to those who believe -
Whoever is an enemy to Allah, and His angels and prophets, to Jibreel and Mikail - Lo! Allah is an enemy to those who reject faith." [2:97-98]

Mikaeel (Michael): Responsible for directing the rain and winds according to the will of Allah.

Mikail (or Mikaaiyl or Michael). The angel of sustenance. He can also be liked to the angel of karma as he is responsible for rewarding those who have lead good lives.

Israafeel: Responsible for blowing the trumpet that will signal the end of creation.

Israfil (or Israafiyl or Raphael). The Angel responsible for announcing Judgment Day, by blowing on his horn ( In the Christian Tradition this is the duty of the Archangel gabriel). It is said that he has four wings two of his wings fill each of the compass quarters, East and West, the next covers his descent from heaven and the last wing he used to make himself invisible.

Angel of  Death

Izra'il (or Azrael). Izra'il is the Angel of Death who is responsible for releasing the soul from the physical body of man. It is also indicated that this angel will appear as a terrifying demon to those souls who have lead evil lives on earth, whereas the souls of the good shall see a beautiful angelic form.

"Say: ‘the Angel of Death, put in charge of you, will (duly) take your souls, then shall you be brought back to your Lord.’" [32:11] There is no proof in any saheeh hadeeth (authentic report) that his name is ‘Azrail.

Maalik: The primary guardian of hell and Hell Fire.

"And they will cry: ‘O Malik (Keeper of Hell)! Let your Lord make an end of us.’ He will say: ‘Verily you shall abide forever.’" [43:77]

He is the Keeper of Hell, as Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): "They [the people in Hell] will cry: ‘O Malik! Would that your Lord put an end to us!’" [43:77]

"And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups, till, when they reach it, the gates thereof will be opened. And its keepers will say, ‘Did not the Messengers come to you from yourselves, - reciting to you the verses of your Lord, and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?’ They will say: ‘Yes, but the word of torment has been justified against the disbelievers!’" [39:71]

We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)!" [97:17-18]

Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell).
And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number only as a trial for the disbelievers - in order that the People of the Scripture may arrive at a certainty and the believers may increase in faith . . ." [74:27-31]

Munkar and Nakeer: Questions humans upon their death as to their belief and what they knew of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). These two angels also punish those in the grave who did not believe, or were hypocrites, while alive.

Munkar : To question the dead on issues relating to his/her God, prophet Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam, religion, belief, deeds, etc. Questioning in the grave.
Nakir: To question the dead on issues relating to his/her God, prophet Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam, religion, belief, deeds, etc.

Haroot and Maroot: Two angels who came to earth and taught men some of the dark arts, such as ruining a marriage, as a test.

• Harut and Marut are the angels who were given the attributes of Man (Free-Will_ and when sent to Earth by God committed the sins of Man.

". . . and such things as came down at Babylon to the angels Haroot and Maroot . . ." [2:102]
". . . and none can know the forces of your Lord, except He. And this is nothing other than a warning to mankind." [74:31]

Others are responsible for recording the deeds of man, good and bad. These are the "honourable scribes" (kiraman katibeen) and are referred to in the ayat/verses (interpretation of the meanings):
". . . and He sends guardians (angels guarding and writing all of one’s good and bad deeds) over you . . ." [6:61]

"Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private counsel? (Yes, We do) and Our messengers (appointed angels in charge of mankind) are by them, to record."
[43:80]

The other angels mentioned in the Qur’an are:

• Ridwan is the angel who governs Paradise

• Kiraamun kaatibeen(Honorable Scribes)the two angels that sit on mankind’s shoulder and records good and bad deeds performed by that person.

Raqib: Sits on man’s right shoulder to record his/her good deeds.
Atid: Sits on man’s left shoulder to record his/her evil deeds.

[43:80]

"(Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions).
Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it)." [50:17-18]

"But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you,
Kiraman (honourable) katibeen - writing down (your deeds)." [82:10-11]

Jibril(Gabriel) Also Known As  The Holy Spirit

"Say: Whoever is an enemy to Jibreel -- for he brings down the revelation to your heart by Allah's will, a confirmation of what went before, and guidance and glad tidings for those who believe -- whoever is an enemy to Allah and His angels and apostles, to Jibreel and Mikail (Michael) -- oh, Allah is an enemy to those who reject Faith" (2:97-98).
"If you two turn in repentance to Him, your hearts are indeed so inclined. But if you back up each other against him, truly Allah is his Protector, and Jibreel, and every righteous one among those who believe, and furthermore, the angels will back him up" (66:4).

Holy Spirit(Jibril)

we read in the Qur’an that the Prophets (peace be upon them all) are chosen by Allah by sending down the Holy Spirit with the revelations:“He sends down the Spirit from His command, upon those of His servants He chooses, in order to warn people of the Day of Meeting.”(Ghafir: 15)
"And truly this is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds, which the trustworthy spirit (Jibreel) has brought down to your heart, in order that you may be from the warners, in plain Arabic language" (Quran 26:192-195).
“Say, the Holy Spirit (Jibreel) has brought the revelation from your Lord in Truth, in order to strengthen those who believe, and as a Guide and Glad Tidings to Muslims” (16:102).

[2:253] And We gave Jesus, the Son of Mary, clear proofs, and We supported him with the Holy Spirit.

[78:38] The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.

we read in the Qur’an that the Holy Spirit was sent down to strengthen Jesus and assist him in his work:
“We gave Jesus, son of Mary, clear signs, and strengthened him with the Holy Spirit…”(Al-Baqarah: 253)

“Then Allah will say, O Jesus son of Mary! Remember My favor upon you and upon your mother; how I strengthened you with the Holy Spirit…”(Al-Ma’idah: 110)
***************
Prophetic sayings/tra(ha)ditions
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed to Allah to strengthen the famous poet Hassan ibn Thabit with the Holy Spirit in composing poems in defense of Islam:“O Allah! Strengthen him with the Holy Spirit.”(Reported by al-Bukhari)
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) later on said about Hassan:“Verily Allah, the Glorious and Mighty, is strengthening Hassan with the Holy Spirit.”(Reported by at-Tirmidhi and Ahmad)“The Holy Spirit is with Hassan in his work!”(Reported by Abu Dawud)
It should be clear from the above that the Holy Spirit is the Angel Jibreel sent by Allah to assist His chosen servants in their divinely ordained missions.”
